Daniel Wester

Captain of Special Operations

Daniel began his career in 2008 as a Deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and has over 17 years of law enforcement experience. He spent six years assigned to the Patrol Division as a Deputy and three years as a Sergeant in the Patrol Division before being promoted to Detective with the Domestic Violence Unit in 2018. In 2020, Daniel was transferred to the Special Operations Group, where he was responsible for working narcotics cases and digital forensics investigations.


Daniel has been a member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) for the past 13 years and has served as a Team Leader for the past five years. He now assumes the role of Commander of the Special Operations Team.



Daniel graduated in 2006 from Louisburg College and served six years in the North Carolina National Guard as a Combat Engineer. In addition to his law enforcement responsibilities, he is a certified General Instructor as well as a Specialized Firearms and Rapid Deployment Instructor. He continues to teach in Basic Law Enforcement and Continuing Education classes in firearms, SWAT, and active shooter response topics.
