Concealed Carry Permits

New & Renewal Permits


All new and renewal applications must be completed online, and an appointment is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted.


Effective October 1, 2025, walk-ins for new permits or renewals will no

longer be accepted. You must schedule an appointment.


  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Print your completed application and bring it with you to your appointment.
  3. When booking your appointment, you will be prompted to pay the non-refundable fee of $90 (new permit) or $75 (renewal).

Be sure to fill out the application accurately and completely to avoid delays. The “Apply” link below allows you to both complete the application and schedule your appointment.


Duplicate Permits


The fee for a duplicate permit (lost, damaged, or name/address change) is $15. Walk-ins for duplicate permits will be accepted.

Fingerprint Services

Starting October 1, 2025, fingerprinting will be available by appointment only.


Walk-ins will not be accepted.


Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (excluding holidays)


Eligibility: Franklin County residents or individuals being fingerprinted for

employment within Franklin County

Payment Breakdown


$10 First set of fingerprints

$5 Additional sets on the same day


Fingerprint Submission Options


Electronic Submission:

  • Sent directly to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation
  • (SBI).
  • The SBI forwards results to the requesting authority.

Inked Fingerprint Cards:

  • Printed cards are given back to the customer.
  • The customer is responsible for submitting them to the requesting authority.

Note: Results are sent directly to the requesting authority and are not provided to the applicant.
