Trial Saturday service beginning!

By Chief of Staff Terry Wright

Beginning on Saturday, August 8th 2015 your Sheriff’s Office will be open between the hours of 8am and 12pm.

Engaging with citizens over the past few months, the Sheriff was made aware of the difficulty for some in obtaining weapon permits and conducting regular business with the Sheriff’s Office during the working week. We are pleased to announce the start of the trial Saturday service in August. (Full dates on homepage).

We will look at increasing the opening times on Saturdays should there be a large demand from the public for this service. Thank you for your feedback!

Detention staff, Sheriff’s Deputies, and K9 units were deployed to search inmate areas. Thankfully no contraband was found in our jail. Good work to everyone involved.

After the recent completion of his tour of duty with the US Army, the Sheriff’s son and grandson volunteered to plow and clear the community garden situated outside the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff's son Jake Winstead used the Sheriff's personal tractor to prepare the field for the United Way of Franklin County yearly Feed Franklin initiative.

Working with the North Carolina Sheriff's Association Rachel has taught many Sheriff’s on how to implement transparent and accountable business operations, and over the coming months she has kindly agreed to assist the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with changes to our business model.
