Open for business on Saturday
By Chief of Staff Terry Wright
Beginning on Saturday, August 8th 2015 your Sheriff’s Office will be open between the hours of 8am and 12pm.
Engaging with citizens over the past few months, the Sheriff was made aware of the difficulty for some in obtaining weapon permits and conducting regular business with the Sheriff’s Office during the working week. We are pleased to announce the start of the trial Saturday service in August. (Full dates on homepage).
We will look at increasing the opening times on Saturdays should there be a large demand from the public for this service. Thank you for your feedback!

Detention Center
Despite our best efforts there are times that contraband is brought into the Detention Center. Ensuring there is no contraband in the Franklin County Detention Center Complex, we conducted our first dormitory search for 2015. Detention staff, Sheriff’s Deputies, and K9 units were deployed to search inmate areas. Thankfully no contraband was found in our jail. Good work to everyone involved.

Feeding Franklin
By Chief of Staff Terry Wright
After the recent completion of his tour of duty with the US Army, the Sheriff’s son and grandson volunteered to plow and clear the community garden situated outside the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff's son Jake Winstead used the Sheriff's personal tractor to prepare the field for the United Way of Franklin County yearly Feed Franklin initiative.

Training
Central to the Sheriffs commitment to modernize the processes of the sheriff’s office, all staff members received training on the updates and changes being implemented to the crime reporting software they use, as well as being introduced to the new modules that will be available for use later this year.
